What Death and Ecstasy Have in Common: Life is a Sacred Gift
In Tantra, death is viewed as a transition, not an end – as a transformation of consciousness from one form of existence to another. Death and ecstasy are interconnected in this context, as both involve surrender, the complete dissolution of the ego, and transcendence of the boundaries of ordinary experience.
A tantric master might say that both death and blissful ecstasy represent moments when our individual self dissolves and merges with cosmic consciousness. In death, the physical form dissolves, while in ecstasy, the mental and emotional boundaries dissolve. Both experiences guide us toward a deep understanding of the unity of existence.
Tantra teaches that it is possible to train for this bliss and surrender through meditation, breathing exercises, or tantric rituals. Death, in this sense, is not something to fear, but rather a natural and sacred process, just as ecstasy serves as a reminder of our true essence – consciousness without limits.
As some Native American elders teach their children: "This body, this beautiful body, you have only for a short time. One day you will die." They used this to frighten them, but also to remind them that by acknowledging this truth, we won’t make so many mistakes in life and will cherish every day.
In Tantra classes, you will learn more about ecstasy and the individual steps of working with it. Ecstasy is not a state reserved for a select few, but rather something like learning to read or ride a bike. It takes time and practice.
Wishing you beautiful days,
